OneBridge Mobile Solutions platform provides support for enterprises wanting to deploy applications on Java-based, BlackBerry devices
Extended Systems (NASDAQ: XTNDE), a leading provider of mobile application solutions for the enterprise, announced today a new module for its OneBridge Mobile platform, enabling enterprises to extend business-critical enterprise applications to Java-based BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds™ via the Mobile Data Service feature of BlackBerry Enterprise Server™. OneBridge’s support for Java-based BlackBerry® devices means that BlackBerry users will be able to access OneBridge Mobile Solutions’ range of wireless business applications.
Extended Systems’ OneBridge platform works in concert with the BlackBerry® wireless platform to provide a secure, ‘failure-tolerant’ architecture that delivers both a high degree of reliability and extensive back-end integration for legacy enterprise applications. For mobile workers already using BlackBerry, OneBridge allows flexibility and investment protection by enabling enterprises to extend additional business applications out to BlackBerry devices. As BlackBerry is the industry-leading mobile applications platform for enterprise organizations, the addition of BlackBerry support will accelerate the adoption of OneBridge’s wireless business applications for mobile workers.
OneBridge has enabled enterprise organizations to deploy business applications to mobile workers, using a broad range of devices (including those based on Microsoft Windows Mobile, Palm and Symbian OS), providing access to back-end corporate data through a multitude of methods, including IP-Push, synchronization, and Web services. Adding support for BlackBerry Mobile Data Service and Java-based BlackBerry devices means enterprises have flexibility to match devices and applications to specific mobile workers.
“Enterprise organizations today commonly have multiple smart devices in their environment, encompassing Microsoft, Palm, Symbian, BlackBerry and other Java-based devices. By delivering BlackBerry support, enterprises standardizing on the OneBridge platform can take advantage of the growing applications portfolio being created by Extended Systems’ many development partners, while furthering the utility of their investment in BlackBerry,” said Jeffrey Siegel, chief marketing officer at Extended Systems.
