Eutron añade nuevos lectores de tarjetas inteligentes (inglés)

Eutron extends its smart card reader family also to include SmartPocket, SmartPocketCombo and SIMReaderCombo: three new devices that, along with SIMPocket and SIMPocket Combo, will reinforce its offer of security units. The complete range shows in fact an unprecedented combination of smart card readers for full size and / or sim size smart cards, with eventually additional storage capability up to 512MB.

SmartPocket is the new Smart Card USB pocket-size reader, fully compliant with the USB CCID standard. Thanks to the availability of a built-in flash memory, SmartPocket is a unique product that meets the need of accessing microchip cards and transferring data and application components

In our own country, the SmartPocket reader is a multipurpose device that can be used by private individuals and Public Administrations for reading/writing the regional service card as well as by business users for smart card self-authentication access into the corporate network.

SIMReader Combo, officially announced last week at Cartes, Paris, has been developed with our technological partner OmniKey based on their 6121 model type. It combines the functionalities of a SIM card reader with those of a memory key featuring up to 512 MB. The SIMReader Combo supports smart card based secure logon and password management. In contrast to regular dongles this product allows to utilize any smart card and is therefore open to support any future smart card and application. In addition the flash memory eases the distribution of a security middleware.

Thanks to its compact size it can be carried everywhere comfortably; it can also be used in all circumstances when data and applications need to be securely transferred, besides allowing authentication and on-line transactions.

The Combo versions are equipped with flash memory that is managed as a removable drive and which can be further partitioned into 8 areas with different security opotionsv, choosing among:

• Standard Mass Storage;
• CD-ROM, with Autorun function;
• Encrypted Mass Storage, with AES 256 bit;
• Read-only Mass Storage, that is write-protected;
• Read and Write Protected Mass Storage.

They also come with a free license of SIMEdit! that enables the owners of a GSM phone to edit, copy or save all information stored in a phone SIM via a standard PC. The user will be able to backup and edit the phone book, the SMS, the PIN and PUK codes and to carry out several other operations
